About Our Studio
Machine (Mono)
Our mono lathe cutting machine is a Vanrock E-101 manufactured in Japan in the 80s. Machines like this one, especially in perfectly working condition, are becoming rarer to find by the day. That's why we take extra care of ours!
Machine (Stereo)
For Hi-Fi enthusiasts, our stereo diamond cutting lathe is capable of producing both 7" and 10" custom vinyl records.
Stylus
We use both diamond and sapphire cutters that we source from a manufacturer based in the United States. These needle types are well known in the industry to produce highly clean grooves for exquisite sound quality.
Discs
We lathe cut music onto 7" or 10" polycarbonate discs, each of which allows for a playback rate of either 33 or 45 RPM.We experimented with various disc colors and found clear, transparent ones to have the best playback results. That said, you are more than welcome to order your records in other color options for aesthetic reasons.
Tips for Best Results
File Specifications
We accept audio files in WAV format in order to master each track meticulously prior to cutting. A good sample rate is 44.1 kHz with a bit depth of either 16 or 24. The cutting head on our machine is mono-only. If you send us stereo tracks, we will transform them to mono with our DAW and optimize them for lathe cutting.
Song Duration
For 7" records, we recommend each side to hold no more than 7 minutes' worth of music. The shorter per side, the better.
